As a lifelong resident of Middle Sackville Brad is the third generation of his family to call Sackville home, and is now raising his two daughters, Jenna and Maria, there as well.

He attended Sackville High School then went on to pursue a Bachelors of Arts in History from Mount Saint Vincent University. 

Brad is a long time community volunteer, having been extensively involved with a number of community organizations including, Scouts Canada, the Kinsmen Club of Sackville, Sackville Freemasons and is a Life Member of the Springfield Lake Recreation Association.

Brad was first elected as Councillor with the Halifax Regional Municipality in 2000 and was re-elected three consecutive times. He was responsible for the concept and construction of the Beaver Bank Kinsac Community Center, revitalizing a former school building into the Sackville Heights Community Center and helped secure over $40 million in new infrastructure projects for Sackville and Beaver Bank. In 2007 Brad helped create and organize the Weir Rockin’, annual summer concert in Upper Sackville, which celebrated its tenth year in 2017.

Over his sixteen year political career Brad served on more than 30 Boards and Committees, including Destination Halifax, N.S. Trade and Convention Center, Neptune Theater Foundation, Halifax Regional Development Association and Nova Scotia Library Association. Brad was also the first elected representative to serve as Chairperson for the RCMP / HRP Board of Police Commissioners and was the Deputy Mayor for the Halifax Regional Municipality in 2010/11.
