HALIFAX, NS – Progressive Conservative leader Jamie Baillie says he welcomes Target to Nova Scotia, but isn’t pleased with their decision not to allow veterans to sell poppies inside their stores.
Baillie is calling on Target to reverse the decision and allow veterans inside their stores to sell poppies.
“Target officials must realize veterans maintain a revered place in Canadian society and that place certainly isn’t out in the cold or on the sidelines,” said Baillie.
Baillie says the retail giant should allow veterans inside of their stores instead of making them sit outdoors or between the double doors separating shoppers from the cold to sell poppies.
“The Canadian men and women who sacrificed for our freedom deserve nothing less than our full respect and admiration,” said Baillie. “Target’s decision is offensive to me and to all Canadians who recognize the value of our veterans.”
