NEW MINAS, NS – Shane Buchan will be the Progressive Conservative candidate in Kings South in the upcoming provincial election.
President of Perry Rand Transport and employer of 245 people, Buchan was nominated tonight at an event with PC Party leader Jamie Baillie and over 400 enthusiastic supporters in attendance.
Buchan says the residents of Kings South will be better off under a Progressive Conservative government.
“A Progressive Conservative government will make life more affordable for people in Kings South,” he said. “Kings South residents know they can’t afford the high-cost agendas of the Liberals and the NDP and they’re looking to the PC Party to show them a better way forward.”
Buchan says PC Party leader Jamie Baillie, a chartered accountant and former Credit Union Atlantic president, has the right experience to turn Nova Scotia’s economy around.
“Jamie Baillie is an experienced leader who knows how to create good jobs by lowering taxes, freezing power rates and stopping wasteful spending,” he said.
Buchan distinguished between Baillie’s affordable plan and the policies of the other parties, by pointing out that both the Liberals and the NDP have expensive energy agendas that will cost ratepayers more. He also noted the NDP and Liberals stood side by side in letting labour disputes shut down hospitals.
Baillie spoke at tonight’s event and is excited about Buchan’s candidacy.
“Shane’s business knowledge will be put to use as we work to undo the damage the Dexter NDP have done to Nova Scotia’s economy,” said Baillie. “The people of Kings South will be well served by having someone of Shane’s experience representing them in the House of Assembly.”
Buchan says he plans to spend the coming weeks and months meeting with voters and discussing their priorities.
