Sylvia was born in Glace Bay and raised in the village of Donkin, Cape Breton. During her youth she was active in soccer, basketball, softball, choirs, youth group and played guitar. Sylvia has had a deep rooted love for Nova Scotia, and its people, since childhood. Now a resident of Halifax-Armdale, Sylvia sees what needs to be done to improve the province, and is putting herself forward as one of the people who can achieve this improvement through the Progressive Conservative Party of Nova Scotia.
Sylvia has over 9 years experience in the health care profession as a registered nurse and over 20 years experience in business with mainly entrepreneurial companies in positions of sales, international marketing and communications. Sylvia is a goal and work-oriented woman who is kind, compassionate and enthusiastic towards people and loves the work she does. Committed to improvement, Sylvia sees herself as a strong political candidate who is deeply invested in the growth and improvement of Nova Scotia. She is passionate about health care improvement, business development and education.
Sylvia holds a Bachelor of Public Relations (’93) from MSVU, a Bachelor of Science Nursing (’08) from ST.F.X/CBU, and a Masters of Nursing - Nurse Practitioner Stream (’16) from Dalhousie University. She is currently a Registered Nurse working for the Victorian Order of Nurses, the Halifax Infirmary, and Northwood Nursing Home.
Sylvia currently lives with her 19 year old son who is attending university..
