Louie has been married for 32 years to his wife Beverly and they have two sons. Ryne, 28 is a Correctional Guard with the N.S. Dept. of Justice and Jeremy, 23 is a Police Officer with the Westville Police Service.
Louie has been with the Cape Breton Regional Municipality for the last 28 years during which time he has been involved in various union positions including Shop Steward, Recording Secretary, Vice-President, and President.
While he was representing Union C.A.W. Local 4230 (bus drivers) at the NS Labour Board Hearings, the CBRM union became the first bus drivers union in Canada to be included with public (outside) workers.
As an active volunteer in the community, Louie has coached minor baseball, elementary and junior basketball, Midget A and AA Hockey and is presently coaching Bantam AA New Waterford minor hockey.
