Cox: Only Tories can be trusted to lower HST

TRURO, NS – On the same day Progressive Conservative leader Jamie Baillie reaffirmed his commitment to lower the HST, Truro-Bible Hill-Millbrook-Salmon River Progressive Conservative candidate Charles Cox took time to remind voters neither the McNeil Liberals nor the Dexter NDP can be trusted to make life more affordable for families.

In the last election campaign Darrell Dexter promised not to raise taxes, but the HST was increased by two percentage points shortly after the NDP was elected. It was the biggest tax grab in Nova Scotia history. The Liberals have a high tax, high spend agenda and have not committed to lowering the HST.

“Nova Scotia families are already paying the highest taxes in Canada and they cannot trust Stephen McNeil or Darrell Dexter to make life more affordable,” said Cox. “Darrell Dexter raised our taxes and Stephen McNeil will keep them high. They’re the tax and spend twins of Nova Scotia politics.”

Cox says the Liberals and the NDP are the same. Both have expensive agendas that result in high taxes, high power rates, more wasteful spending and lost jobs.

Charles Cox says the Progressive Conservative plan, Change that Works, is different.

“Under the leadership of Jamie Baillie, we will make life more affordable and protect the family budget,” said Cox. “We will bring real relief and create good jobs by lowering taxes, freezing power rates and putting an end to wasteful spending.”
