HALIFAX, NS – Christine Dewell will be the Progressive Conservative candidate in Halifax Chebucto in the upcoming provincial election.

Dewell, a independent Project Management consultant with Cisco Systems and the owner of Peculiar Productions, an event management company, was nominated tonight at an event with PC Party leader Jamie Baillie and over 60  enthusiastic supporters in attendance.

“We can’t have a strong Nova Scotia without a strong economy. I believe Jamie understands the importance of this more than the NDP or the Liberals, and he will change direction in Nova Scotia for the better,” said Dewell. “My husband and I are expecting our first child in March and I want to make sure that the Nova Scotia he grows up in is one of opportunity and growth.”

Dewell says it’s not right that kids started school at Sir Charles Tupper this past September in classes that were too big, while the NDP used taxpayers’ money to bail out large corporations.

Baillie spoke at tonight’s event and is excited about Dewell’s candidacy.

“Christine is a small business owner, she knows firsthand the devastating impact the Dexter NDP has had on Nova Scotia’s economy,” said Baillie. “The people of Halifax Chebucto will be well served by having someone of Christine’s experience representing them in the House of Assembly.”
