Dexter joins McNeil on tax and spend tour

AMHERST, NS – Cumberland County will get a double dose of the high tax, high spend tour when NDP leader Darrell Dexter joins Liberal leader Stephen McNeil in Cumberland County today. Cumberland North Progressive Conservative candidate Judi Giroux says residents will have a hard time finding any difference between the two.

“Cumberland County residents are waiting for both Stephen McNeil and Darrell Dexter to explain why they should keep paying the highest taxes in Canada,” said Giroux. “The Liberals the NDP are the same. Both have expensive agendas that result in high taxes, high power rates, more reckless spending and lost jobs.”

Giroux says only the Progressive Conservatives have a plan that will lower taxes, freeze power rates, balance the budget and create jobs.

“Our leader Jamie Baillie is the only one that offers change that works. The NDP have made things worse for Nova Scotia in the past four years and Stephen McNeil does not plan to do anything differently,” she said.

Earlier this week the Liberals unveiled their expensive $300 million platform. It contained no plans for tax relief and no timeline for a balanced budget.

Dexter broke his promise to not raise the HST shortly after he was elected.
