FACT CHECK: Fewer Nova Scotians? Blame the Dexter NDP

September 23, 2013 at 10:44 am

HALIFAX, NS – The desperate Dexter NDP is at it again. Today NDP Health Minister Dave Wilson said putting patients and families first will drive people out of the province. If Dave Wilson and the Dexter NDP want to talk about driving people out of the province, maybe they should look in the mirror.

FACT – The most recent Statistics Canada report on “net interprovincial migration” for Nova Scotia showed that under the NDP Nova Scotia lost 3,008 people[1].

FACT – More than 5,000 people left Nova Scotia for Alberta in 2011/2012 alone.

FACT – The population of working age people in Nova Scotia declined by 5,500 from December 2011 to December 2012[2].

FACT – The NDP lost 2,700 Full Time jobs from August 2009 to August 2013[3] due to their poor economic management.

FACT – The Progressive Conservatives will continue to stand with patients and families over special interest groups.

FACT – Only the Progressive Conservatives will put patients first in health care by passing legislation to resolve contract disputes through arbitration rather than strikes or lockouts, so that contract disputes cannot interrupt health care.
