Queens-Shelburne MLA Kim Masland is not surprised that the Liberal Health Minister would not guarantee that Roseway Hospital will stay open.

During today’s Question Period, Masland asked Health Minister Randy Delorey if he would give his word  that the Roseway Hospital would remain an open, full-service hospital.

As she expected, the minister would give no such commitment.

“This Liberal government has proven at every turn that they can’t be trusted with our healthcare system,” says Masland. “My constituents are suffering because of these hospital closures and the minister refuses to acknowledge that our hospital and our healthcare is their priority.”

The Roseway Hospital emergency room was closed for 213 hours between August 1 and August 22. Since the announcement of major hospital closures in Cape Breton, Masland fears that Roseway may be next on the Liberal chopping block.

Masland is calling on Minister Delorey to make a commitment that Roseway Hospital will remain an open and full-service hospital now and into the future.
