McNeil’s tax and spend tour hits Annapolis Valley

CAMBRIDGE, NS – Liberal Leader Stephen McNeil is bringing his tax and spend tour to the Annapolis Valley today. He is going to have some explaining to do.

“People here are waiting for Stephen McNeil to explain why he thinks they should continue paying the highest taxes and the highest power rates in Canada,” says Shane Buchan, PC Candidate for Kings South. “People are struggling in the Valley, but there will be no relief with Stephen McNeil’s NDP-like policies.”

Yesterday the Liberals unveiled their platform. It contained no plan for tax relief and no timeline for a balanced budget. It contained almost $300 million in new spending with no plan to pay for it. The Liberals will also bring deregulation that failed and drove up power rates in New Brunswick, Alberta, and many US states.

“McNeil’s high tax, high spend and high power rate agenda will make life harder for families,” Buchan says. “Jamie Baillie and the Progressive Conservative team will lower taxes, stop wasteful spending, freeze power rates and create jobs.”

Nova Scotia will be a tax free zone for small business under a Jamie Baillie Progressive Conservative government. Power rates will be frozen for five years under a detailed five point plan, the HST will be cut and the budget will be balanced.
