Meet the NS Youth PC President Daniel MacKenzie
Daniel is from Fall River, Nova Scotia and has had a passion for politics from a young age. The 21 year old is soon to be graduated from Nova Scotia Community College with a diploma in Television Production. He first started working in politics in September 2013 during the 2013 general election in his local riding of Waverley – Fall River – Beaver Bank for local PC candidate Brian Wong. Following that he has been a loyal member of the local riding association up to this day.
In 2015, Daniel went to Ottawa to attend the Conservative Party of Canada’s Youth Conference and later on completed the Conservative Party of Canada Internship Program working on Parliament Hill in Peter MacKay’s Ministers office at the Department of Justice. Following the Internship, he returned to Nova Scotia to start attending post-secondary education at NSCC and be a part of a 2015 federal general election as an assistant campaign manager for Conservative Party candidate Robert Strickland in the riding of Sackville – Preston – Chezzetcook.
In 2016, Daniel joined the Electoral District Association of Sackville – Preston – Chezzetcook and was selected to attend the Conservative Party of Canada’s National Policy Convention in Vancouver, BC as a voting delegate for his riding. Daniel was also elected as Executive Vice President of the Nova Scotia Young Progressive Conservatives and helped organized the PC Party of Nova Scotia’s Youth Conference held in Truro.
At the 2017 Nova Scotia Progressive Conservative Annual General Meeting, Daniel was awarded the Paul Levy Memorial Youth Award for being the top youth volunteer within the party in 2016. Daniel continued to sit as the Executive Vice President of the Nova Scotia Young Progressive Conservatives which led into the 2017 Provincial General Election where he was one of the youngest members that worked on the Provincial campaign team that brought the PC seat count total from 10 to 17. Daniel also attended the Conservative Party of Canada Leadership Convention in Toronto, ON where the CPC elected Andrew Scheer as their new leader.
This year Daniel was selected as a delegate to attend the Conservative Party of Canada’s Policy Convention and for the first time ever it being held in Atlantic Canada in Halifax. Daniel was acclaimed as President of the Nova Scotia Young Progressive Conservatives where he continues to lead a group of young and energized progressive conservatives to the future.
