More Liberal promises, no plan to pay for them

HALIFAX, NS – Stephen McNeil’s Liberals continue to make promises without a plan to for pay them, Victoria-The Lakes Progressive Conservative candidate Keith Bain said in response to today’s Liberal announcement.

“Stephen McNeil’s Liberals are just like Darrell Dexter’s NDP – more promises and more spending of money that future generations don’t have,” said Bain. “Students won’t benefit from more government overspending, more deficits and more debt.”

A Jamie Baillie PC government will help university and community college students by negotiating new five year agreements that link investments in post-secondary with affordability for students and institutional fiscal responsibility. The PCs will also require universities to provide more information around employability after graduation.

“Taxpayers expect universities and the Nova Scotia Community College to manage better, without always passing the costs along to students and their families,” added Bain. “As a chartered accountant and former member of Dalhousie University’s Board of Governors, Jamie Baillie understands that students benefit from real change at the top, not blank cheques taxpayers can’t afford.”
