A long-time New Democrat is urging voters to make a strategic choice in the upcoming general election.
Linda Power has run twice for the NDP in Clayton Park West. She says that in the vast majority of constituencies across the province, Jamie Baillie’s Progressive Conservatives are the best choice to replace Stephen McNeil’s government with a positive alternative.
“For the first time in my life, I am voting Progressive Conservative,” said Power. “We can’t risk having Stephen McNeil in the Premier’s Office any longer after the damage he has done to health care, education and collective bargaining.”
Power added that some New Democrats are not comfortable with the direction provided by current leader Gary Burrill. She adds Nova Scotians aren’t ready for a Premier who will run deficits for the next six to eight years, as proposed by Burrill.
“It’s time for a new government in Nova Scotia to replace Stephen McNeil, not a protest vote.”
“Gary Burrill is a nice person, but we need a Premier who can unite all Nova Scotians,” said Power. “It’s time for a new government in Nova Scotia to replace Stephen McNeil, not a protest vote.”
Power is impressed with the PC Party’s opposition to Bill 75 and Bill 148 and its commitment to repeal both bills so that collective bargaining can take place. She is also impressed by the strong team of candidates Jamie Baillie has attracted across the province.
Power is not joining the PC Party and says voters must evaluate constituency by constituency which candidate has the best chance to defeat the McNeil Liberals.
“I think highly of many New Democrats putting their names forward, but in the vast majority of cases, the best chance to defeat the McNeil Liberals is by voting for Jamie Baillie’s Progressive Conservatives.”
