PC Party Nova Scotia

PC Nova Scotia - A Message from Provincial President Scott Armstrong

Date:
Tuesday, October 20, 2009

Congratulations to our October 20 by-election candidates Allan MacMaster in Inverness and Darren Thompson in Antigonish for running two excellent campaigns. On behalf of the Provincial Executive, I would like to thank them and their campaign teams for a tremendous effort.

It is no easy feat organizing by-election campaigns only a few short months after the provincial general election. All Progressive Conservatives owe these candidates and their workers a debt of gratitude for representing our party so well.

The election of Allan MacMaster as the new MLA for Inverness will serve as a great addition to our Progressive Conservative caucus. Meanwhile, Darren Thompson's strong second place showing in Antigonish provides a strong foundation for our party to reclaim this seat in the next general election.

The by-election results in both Inverness and Antigonish demonstrate that the PC Party of Nova Scotia continues to be a relevant and viable force in our province.

They also point to the importance of our ongoing work to rebuild the PC Party as a strong alternative to the NDP. In addition to these by-election results, here are some of the other highlights:

- Our leader Karen Casey and the MLAs are doing a great job in the legislature, acting as a strong, constructive opposition

- We have a provincial fundraising event set for November 26 in tribute to our former longstanding PC Nova Scotia Fund chair Stewart McInnes

- Our 2010 annual general meeting is set for February 5-7 at the Westin Nova Scotian

- Leadership convention co-chairs George White and Alice McCarron are working with their committee to prepare the rules for our fall 2010 leadership convention

On a personal note, I appreciate the support many of you have given to me in my campaign to become the next Member of Parliament for Cumberland-Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley in the federal by-election scheduled for November 9. Jim David, Steve Taylor and Christina Lamey at PC Headquarters are always available to help you and respond to any questions you have.

Regards,

Scott Armstrong
