PC Party Nova Scotia

PC Nova Scotia - 2012 Annual Meeting

Message from the co-chairs

Happy Friday Tory friends … the countdown is on ...

That’s right, only 3 more days to get in on the early registration discounted rate for the Progressive Conservative Annual General Meeting! And … the single best political convention in Canada is only one week away.

Late Monday (February 6th), the significant savings of early registration vanish – register online now and scroll down to see the full and updated schedule and get you and your better half added to the list at a discount. You can also register by phone by calling the Party at 1-800-595-TORY (8679). We are blown away by the registrations so far. There are hundreds of familiar faces already registered, and hundreds more new faces on the list, new folks drawn by the energy and excitement of our Leader and our reinvigorated party. This will be a knock-down, drag’em out weekend.

We also have some exciting updates to share with you. First, a reminder that this year’s AGM is being held next weekend, February 10, 11, & 12 at a new venue – the Marriott Harbourfront Hotel in Halifax and this year’s convention is an event not to be missed.

The Leader’s Speech on Friday will set the tone. Jamie will outline his vision for not only our Party’s future but for Nova Scotia’s future. It’s a future that he, like you, is profoundly passionate about.

The sessions are shaping up to appeal not only to the political animal in all of us, but will touch on every essential tool you and your fellow campaigners will need to ensure that Baillie Tories are elected from Yarmouth to Sydney and all points in between. You’ll learn things like how to harness the power of social media, and about some of the newest and vital communication and voter-mobilization tools we’ll throw at the competition.

Saturday morning’s Federal Breakfast will provide an update on the National Shipbuilding Strategy and who better to give the keynote address than our own Hon. Peter MacKay. This event was so popular among registering delegates over the last few weeks that it technically sold-out ... but no stress, we moved it to the biggest ballroom we have, to squeeze everybody in. That said - there may still be more who want to go, than there’ll be room for – so click that Saturday Breakfast button early.

You know what they say about ‘no such thing as a free lunch’ … well, the Policy Lunch is another new addition to our normal AGM line-up. This is your opportunity to not only hear from the Chairs of the Leader’s 4 Policy Task Forces and the interim reports of their working groups, but also to add your voice to the exciting initiatives that will come from them. It’ll be plenary style and really an interactive working lunch, with voting from your tables, mics on the floor, the whole bit. The work of these taskforces will be all the stronger once you put in your two cents.

Tories across the country know that our conventions aren’t only about business, but also a little bit social. All right, a lot social. So here’s the biggest news in this email, an update on Saturday’s Roast. Our secret VIP, a man who just yesterday was told by the Leader that there was no other more deserving for the dubious though well-earned honour of being the target of the biting, sarcastic and joke-filled barbs of over a dozen Celebrity Tory Roasters … was none other than our own Jim David. Jim is celebrating his 25th year as our venerable Executive Director. The Jim David 25th Anniversary (isn’t that crazy?) Celebrity Roast will be an evening that will not disappoint! Bring your funny bone, do some deep breathing exercises to warm up your diaphragms, this Roast will be unlike anything a Tory AGM has seen.

That … and every region of the Province has hospitality suites over the weekends.

So, we’re agreed – you can’t miss AGM weekend ...make sure to take a few minutes at http://pcparty.ns.ca/node/228  to register online or pick up the phone and call the Party at 1-800-595-TORY (8679) to get in on the early discounted registration before Monday, February 6th.

Be there or be square – we’re looking forward to seeing you and catching up,

Kim MacQuarrie and Chris Lydon

Co-Chairs of AGM 2012

PS - As a new feature to this year’s AGM, a childcare service is planned. The supervised and professional care would be offered when parents attend the business and social sessions. Children must be over 2 years of age and daily rates are $20 for Friday and Sunday and $40 on Saturday. There is a weekend rate of $50. Please email us ASAP if you plan to use this service and which plan works best for you, as we need to know in advance if there will be a demand.

PPS - Congratulations to Brenda McInnis of Sheet Harbour who won our early registration draw and received her hotel room free of charge for the weekend! Remember that although you missed out on the free room draw, you still have time to get in on the early registration discount until February 6th. Talk soon.
