HALIFAX – A prominent Ontario Progressive Conservative Member of Provincial Parliament is coming home to her roots to speak to Nova Scotia Progressive Conservatives,
Nepean-Carleton MPP Lisa MacLeod will be the special guest speaker on Sunday, February 7, at the Progressive Conservative Party of Nova Scotia's 2010 Annual Meeting. Born and raised in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, and a graduate of St. Francis Xavier University, MacLeod will share her insights on party rebuilding and grassroots politics.
"Lisa has many friends in Nova Scotia, dating back to her work as a young Progressive Conservative in the 1990s as we rebuilt the PC Party from third place to majority government," said Robert Batherson, president of the PC Party of Nova Scotia. "Our party is delighted that she has found time in her busy schedule to join us for our annual meeting."
Since her election to the Ontario legislature in a 2006 by-election, MacLeod has distinguished herself as a strong voice for fiscal responsibility, local democracy, health care and helping working families. She was re-elected with a large majority in 2007. She is married to a fellow Nova Scotia expatriate Joe Varner and they have one child, Victoria.
The PC Party of Nova Scotia's annual meeting is scheduled February 5-7, 2010.
