Rob Batherson A 20 year member of the Progressive Conservative Party of Nova Scotia, Rob Batherson became provincial president in November 2009 and was re-elected at the party’s 2010 annual general meeting this past February. Over the last two decades, Rob has volunteered his time and effort to numerous roles for our party. Rob ran for the legislature in 1998 under John Hamm’s first provincial election campaign. He is a past constituency association president, served as president of the Nova Scotia Young Progressive Conservatives and joined the provincial executive in 2005. During his three years as provincial vice president of policy, he led two grassroots driven policy development processes. He also co-chaired the PC Party of Nova Scotia’s 2006 leadership convention. Rare is the provincial election or by-election where Rob isn’t rolling up his sleeves and getting to work to help get Tories elected and re-elected. Professionally, Rob has more than 14 years experience in the communications and public affairs business. He worked as a communications co-ordinator and researcher for John Hamm and the PC Caucus Office during the 1990s and was part of MP Peter MacKay’s inaugural Parliament Hill team following the 1997 federal election. From 1999 to 2005, Rob was a member of Premier John Hamm’s senior team, serving first as press secretary and concluding as director of communications. Currently, Rob is senior vice president and co-owner of Colour, a leading communications and marketing firm in Atlantic Canada. In addition to his love of politics, Rob is an active community volunteer, serving in leadership roles with Mount Saint Vincent University’s board of governors, Neptune Theatre’s board of directors, United Way’s annual campaign and the Halifax Chamber of Commerce board of directors. A native of Sydney, Cape Breton, Rob lives in Halifax with his wife. |
