YARMOUTH, NS - The Progressive Conservative Party will be represented by
Charles Crosby in the June 22 by-election in Yarmouth.

Crosby, the former longtime Yarmouth mayor and a past president of the Union
of Nova Scotia Municipalities, won the party's candidacy at a contested
nomination meeting attended by more than 100 people at the Royal Canadian
Legion on Saturday.  The other candidate seeking the PC candidacy was local
educator and former municipal councillor Greg Foster.  Following Crosby's
victory, Foster moved that the vote be unanimous.

Progressive Conservative leader Karen Casey, who was keynote speaker at the
nomination meeting, praised both Crosby and Foster for running.

"Competition is healthy and both individuals should be commended for making
democracy work," said Casey.  "As a party we must now come together and
stand united behind Charles Crosby so that he will become the next MLA for
Yarmouth on June 22."

Crosby stressed that if elected, job number one will be getting Yarmouth's
economy moving again, in part through re-establishing ferry service out of
Yarmouth.

"Working with our MP Greg Kerr and our neighbouring MLA Chris d'Entremont, I
want to put my experience to work to get good things done for Yarmouth
again, starting with our vital transportation links," added Crosby.  "It
would be an honour to again serve the good people of Yarmouth at a time when
we are perhaps facing our biggest challenges."

The nomination meeting was chaired by former Yarmouth MLA Dr. Benoit
Robichaud.  In addition to Casey, other special guests at the meeting
included Argyle MLA Chris d'Entremont, West Nova MP Greg Kerr, Senator
Gerald Comeau and Nova Scotia PC Party President Robert Batherson.
