President’s Report
January 14, 2011
Dear Progressive Conservative:
After an eventful week, I thought I would drop you all a short note of thanks.
Our leader Jamie Baillie, PC Headquarters and I received many positive messages of support from grassroots PC members from across the province. Regardless of Karen Casey’s decision to become a Liberal, the fact that so many of you took the time to speak out and stand up shows that we will continue to rebuild based on the lessons our party learned from the last provincial election, the commitment and participation of our volunteers and the strong direction provided by our leader for a new, positive kind of politics in Nova Scotia.
First and foremost, I am thankful for our hard working and dedicated members of the Colchester North PC Association, led by their president Glen Rankin. Needless to say, it’s not easy to see an MLA you supported in two elections change parties suddenly, without any warning or consultation. All of us supported Karen Casey in her work as interim PC leader, but none so closely as the Tories of Colchester North. Despite their MLA moving to the Liberals, these dedicated grassroots volunteer Progressive Conservatives have stayed true to their principles and values. I know I join with many PCs throughout the province in expressing gratitude and appreciation for the sound judgment and strong moral compass the Colchester North PCs showed this week.
Here are some things that you should consider doing to show your support for Jamie Baillie and the PC Party:
• Register for the 2011 Annual General Meeting, scheduled February 4-5-6, by going to www.pcparty.ns.ca or calling 1-800-595-8679;
• Invite your friends and neighbours who are unhappy with Darrell Dexter’s NDP government to be a part of positive change by joining Jamie Baillie’s PC Party (which, again can be done online at www.pcparty.ns.ca); and
• Start the New Year off right by making a donation of your time, your talent or your funds to support our PC Party locally and provincially.
On a concluding note, congratulations to the Kings North PC Association for holding their annual meeting last night. Jerry Atwater served as a great president in Kings North and I know his successor Peter Harrison will continue to build on that tradition. And best of luck tomorrow to the Kings West PCs, who are holding their annual meeting in Berwick.
Drop me a line anytime at robert.batherson@pcparty.ns.ca or 902-478-1685 (cell).
Yours truly,
Robert Batherson
President
PC Party of Nova Scotia
