Yesterday, Cape Breton-Richmond MLA Alana Paon recognized educator and author Gabriel Leblanc for his dedication to the Acadian and Francophone community.

The L’ordre de la Pléiade, an international distinction, was bestowed upon Leblanc for his tireless promotion of the French language at Province House in Halifax. Leblanc is a constituent of Cape Breton – Richmond.

“Gabriel has demonstrated tremendous leadership in the francophone community. His experience and volunteerism in promoting the French language and Acadian culture dates back to 1969,” says Paon. “This is a well deserved recognition and it was an honour to be there when he received L’ordre de la Pléiade.”

Leblanc has recently written a second book, entitled, ‘La Tradition Orale de Mon Isle Madame : le conte acadien’.

“I would like to take a moment to congratulate and thank all those who received this honour,” says Paon. “People who generously help preserve our Francophone culture, language and traditions should be acknowledged. Acadian and Francophone communities are an integral part of our Nova Scotian heritage.”

Mr. Leblanc is among the 10 recipients of this award from across Nova Scotia.
