Cape Breton-Richmond MLA Alana Paon introduced a bill today, on the 102nd anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge, that designates November 1st to 11th as a time to remember the dedication and sacrifice of veterans and members of the Canadian Forces.

“I am proud and humbled to introduce the Time of Remembrance Act,” Paon said. “We owe our freedom to the brave men and women who fought against oppression and tyranny. Our veterans deserve more than a single day.”

Paon noted that community ceremonies and activities traditionally take place in the days leading up to Remembrance Day.

“The bill enshrines those important acts of remembrance in law and ensures that the sacrifice and service of our veterans will never be forgotten,” Paon concluded.
