LOWER SACKVILLE, NS – Progressive Conservative leader Tim Houston welcomed MLA-elect Steve Craig to the PC Caucus following his historic by-election win tonight in Sackville-Cobequid.

“Steve is going to be an excellent addition to our Caucus and an effective voice for the people of Sackville-Cobequid,” Houston said. “With Steve’s victory, the people of Sackville have sent a message that that they want an alternative to the McNeil Liberals.”

Craig has a long history of proven leadership in Sackville. Since 2012, he has served the people of Lower Sackville as their HRM councillor. In addition, Craig is an active community volunteer who has served as Chair of the Cobequid Health Centre Foundation and on the provincial and national boards of the Canadian Cancer Society.

“Voters were very clear during this campaign. They want a representative who will work for improved care at the Cobequid Health Centre and for a lower cost of living,” Craig said. “I am grateful for their support and I am committed to making their priorities my priorities.”

The Progressive Conservatives have not held the constituency of Sackville-Cobequid since 1984.

“Steve is a person with a proven track record of rolling up his sleeves and getting things done for the people of his community,’” Houston concluded. “I look forward to working with him at Province House.”

Craig will attend his first Caucus meeting tomorrow at 11:00 am at the PC Caucus Office.
