October 15 proclaimed as provincial day of recognition

Progressive Conservative Pictou East MLA Tim Houston is proud of the efforts by the pregnancy and infant loss community to have October 15th proclaimed as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day.

Houston’s Bill passed with unanimous support of all MLAs in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly today. Paula Harmon and Raylene MacPherson were at the Legislature this week advocating for this day of recognition. Houston says it’s because of people like Paula and Raylene that this special recognition is now a reality.

“I am so proud of the hard work and tireless efforts of many who have been fighting to raise awareness about pregnancy and infant loss,” says Houston. “October 15 will provide special recognition for women and families who have suffered such a heartbreaking loss. With this extra awareness and attention, we can begin to provide women and families with the support and compassion they need at such a difficult time.”
