Cumberland North MLA Elizabeth Smith-McCrossin says the Liberal Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal must fix the Rainbow Bridge.
Today in the Legislature, Smith-McCrossin tabled a petition with over 5,000 signatures requesting the provincial Liberal government immediately start repairs on Rainbow Bridge and have a passable bridge in place as soon as possible. She also pressed the Minister on why after 12 weeks there is still no engineering report completed to determine if the bridge needs to be repaired or replaced and a timeline of when this work will be completed.
“Members of the community have made their voices heard loud and clear. They want the Rainbow Bridge fixed,” says Smith-McCrossin. “The Liberal government must get the engineering report done and get this bridge fixed as soon as possible.”
Smith-McCrossin says the detour road is in bad shape and residents are frustrated.
“The detour suggested is not a long-term solution. The road is crumbling and cannot handle the additional traffic,” says Smith-McCrossin. “The Minister needs to get the engineering report done and projects underway to fix the bridge.”
