When will Stephen McNeil run out of Darrell Dexter’s ideas?

HALIFAX, NS – Progressive Conservative leader Jamie Baillie says it’s ironic Stephen McNeil is challenging Darrell Dexter on the economy, especially since the Liberal leader supports virtually all of the Dexter NDP’s economic policies.

“Stephen McNeil is a cheerleader for the Dexter NDP’s economic plans, including keeping taxes and power rates high,” said Baillie. “Stephen McNeil must think the last four years of economic mismanagement are acceptable since he’s proposing nothing different.”

Despite years of promises to the contrary, Stephen McNeil’s election platform contains no plans for tax relief and no timeline for a balanced budget. It contains more high spending and high power rates.

Stephen McNeil even pledged to keep all of Darrell Dexter’s pre-election spending spree promises, totaling over $100 million.

“Stephen McNeil doesn’t understand that four more years of the last four years will not grow the economy or create jobs,” said Baillie. “We need real change and that starts with lowering taxes, freezing power rates, stopping wasteful spending and creating up to 20,000 new jobs.”

Baillie says the Progressive Conservatives will put an end to wasteful spending, starting with the gold-plated MLA pension plan, which Stephen McNeil defends.
